Six years have passed since I watched the indelible Isabella Rossellini online garbed in head-to-toe green, carefully inching forward with amorous intentions to mount and eventually simulate copulation with a human-sized construction paper facsimile of a praying mantis before sacrificing her head mid-coitus. One could say the act offered a whole new definition of “giving good head.”
Considering the “who”, “what”, and “how”, the performance was certainly a pornographic reenactment I’ve yet to forget, one amongst several short films dedicated to the zoological diversity of sex Rossellini wrote and directed for The Sundance Channel series,Green Porno. And now the show is being revived for the stage, scheduled to be performed live in front of an audience at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum this coming Saturday.
The one-and-a-half hour live performance will again see Rossellini donning an assortment of animalia costumes constructed with foam and cardboard, all with the intent of simulating nature’s most fascinating mating rituals between mammals, insects, invertebrates, and sea creatures, and in choreography with words written by French novelist and actor, Jean-Claude Carrière.
Expect a surreal orgy of the Muppets meets BangBus orchestrated by David Attenborough – an educational Kama Sutra that will undoubtedly remind us bipedal
primates that even at our wildest, we’re still pretty tame in comparison to our animal counterparts with their blowhole penetration and sadomasochistic foreplay.
Green Porno Live!
