San Francisco-based mixed media artist Jim Campbell has been working with light sculptures for over 30 years. Campbell is known for pioneering the creative programming of light bulbs and LEDs and is currently displaying new work at Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery and at an exhibit titled "Rhythms of Perception" at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York. You might have seen some of Campbell's art while it was on display at the entrance of SFMOMA.

Aside from being one of the earliest adopters of digital technology in art, Campbell has also contributed a lot to the world in the form of public art. He was responsible for lighting up Madison Square Garden as well as beautifying the San Diego airport. Here are some examples of the work on display at Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery and inside the airport. The pieces are a mix of LED panels that project Kodachrome home movies and topographic LED sculptures molded from resin.
