If you’re a socio-economically conscious San Franciscan, you might not realize you could be saddled with privileges that go unused on a daily basis. Excess entitlement can be an opportunity lost; after all, $4 trillion in unused privilege goes to waste every year. Whether the privileges bestowed upon you are through work or just being born a white dude, WellDeserved seeks to even the playing field by launching the first (and premiere) marketplace for privilege. It's like listing your spare room on Airbnb, except you finally get to make money off your overly complicated ergonomic desk.
Winner of Comedy Hack Day 7, WellDeserved was created in 48 hours and pitched on stage at the Marines Memorial Theatre to a panel of judges, closing out SF Sketchfest. The two minute "brand video" skewers everything from tech to gender to race, while the (surprisingly elegant) website offers more sharp-witted examples of unused privilege around the city: a sweet spot in Dolores Park, for example, and "kinda hot chicks" you can reserve for your own startup office.
Those easily offended might wanna skip this, but if you're up for a good laugh at your own expense, check out the video below. And remember, "when everyone has access to privileges today, we can create a more equally privileged society tomorrow."
