There have been large lights and other signs of filming outside of Davies Symphony Hall on Van Ness for a few days now and Lauren Machado from the city's Film Commission confirmed to Hoodline that they are there for the Steve Jobs biopic. You may have heard about the Aaron Sorkin penned movie through its casting call earlier this year. It will star Michael Fassbender as Jobs, Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniack, and Kate Winslet as Joanna Hoffman. Machado also confirmed to us that all three of these actors are in town for filming.
I think they're shooting the Steve Jobs movie at the SF Opera House -- I see a NeXT poster inside the door. pic.twitter.com/5PxXvD6Pv7

The movie's filming will continue in SF until April and should make itself known considering the actors will all be dressed and styled to look '80s appropriate. When I asked Machado what the big honking lights outside the Opera House are for, she explained that those are to amplify the “sunlight” shining into the building for the interior shots. She also said that they’re not currently filming exterior scenes of the building, but they will be at a later date. In other words, keep an eye out for faces you recognize in the next month or so.
