If you’re like me, you just can’t get enough images of San Francisco and the Bay Area from way up high. I hike to the top of everything and follow KCBS’ Traffic Reporter Ron Cervi on Instagram (Sky1Ron), but it’s never enough. So Pre-Future’s new two-and-a-half-minute video showing the Bay Area’s stunning natural and human-made beauty can be the best first distraction on the first work day of the new year.
Accompanied by a Vangelis-like soundtrack, there are nice shots of waterfowl scattering in the Bay, a daring zip under a high-voltage transmission tower embedded in the muck, a few bits of the Bay Bridge at twilight that you’d see in any luxury car commercial, and higher-quality shots of wind turbines and wild horses than you’d see in TV ads for some progressive candidate’s campaign. (A close buzz by Coit Tower at sunset is particularly stunning, as is the contrast between the spanking new Levi’s Stadium and the rusting hulk of Candlestick.)
Round it out with the images of a red car motoring through a second-growth redwood forest and a sailboat on its side, and you’re all to start off 2015 with a reminder of how purty the Bay Area can be. Whatever vice you gave up as a New Year’s resolution, swap this in as a sub instead.
