The winners of the 2014 James Beard Award were announced last night, and of course, a few of the big victors were from the Bay Area.
Charles Phan's reliably good, up-scale Vietnamese restaurant at the Ferry Building, The Slanted Door, won Outstanding Restaurant.
And chef Daniel Patterson, who heads Coi, and brought us Alta CA in SF and Haven and Plum (which we recently had a four-year-old kid review) in Oakland, won Best Chef: West.
Other Bay Area winners include SHED in Healdsburg for Outstanding Restaurant Design and the Restaurant at Meadowood in St. Helena for Outstanding Service.

Congrats to all the winners; and food fans, you might want to get moving on getting reservations to these spots before they completely fill up for months and months in advance (hopefully it's not too late!).
