If you were one of the people freaking out late last year, when news that Huy Fong Foods was possibly going to have to halt production of their famous rooster bottle sriracha, you'll want to watch "Sriracha," a documentary by Griffin Hammond about the controversial hot sauce.
The short film will screen on April 3, as the opening program of the Second Annual Food and Farm Films, a film fest put on by Bi-Rite and Roxie, to support 18 Reasons. Along with "Sriracha," the opening night event will also feature several other short docs (including one about Josey Baker and The Mill), and entry to an afterparty at Root Divison featuring FREE food and drinks from Earthbound Farm, Bi-Rite Market, Suppershare, Josey Baker, Califcraft, Deschutes, and Farm Line Wines, and a performance by Gaucho Gypsy Jazz Band.
The Food and Farm Films fest continues through April 6, with screenings of fascinating films about all those delicious things we love to eat.
As for sriracha... the battle between the city of Irwindale, CA and Huy Fong Foods is currently at a standstill. Fortunately, you can still buy bottles at most major markets. Phew!
