I'm sad to hear that Shigemi "Shig33" Komiyama, the owner of Inner Richmond izakaya-style restaurant, Halu died in January after an extended illness. Inside Scoop SFreported that a memorial service is being held in his honor this Sunday March 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the San Francisco Culture Center SGI.
Shigemi and his wife, Mieko Komiyama, originally opened Halu in 2008 and filled their unique spot with rock 'n' roll memorabilia.
Komiyama will be missed by those who frequent his quirky restaurant, fans of his band the Shitones, and countless others. Halu will remain open.
