If you thought hookup apps like Tinder, Grindr, and Down were sexually progressive, this latest offering, 3nder, is going to blow your mind. It's for users seeking threesomes.
The cheeky Brits who developed 3nder promise that their product will facilitate threesomes that are “safe, simple, and awesome.” They're trying to sell the app as sexually revolutionary. It aims to liberate tech savvy singles and couples shackled by real-world customs and taboos surrounding polyamory. 3nder will “make society more open about sexual desires,” the company boasts, by helping the polyamorous community hook up more efficiently.
Regardless of whether having an extra body in bed is your thing, the appearance of the app brings up the more serious conversation about STDs. Having sex with (potentially) two strangers carries twice the risk, as Jolie O’Dell pointed out in her well-penned op-ed. The 3nder doesn’t include any proof-of-health requirements, leaving a pretty glaring concern the company needs to address. Not to mention that you'd better be pretty fucking confident in your sexual technique to perform it on two strangers at once.
