As part of our “Love, SF” series, we took a romp around the city in search of the many colorful characters that make up San Francisco’s diverse social fabric. While we often associate certain types of people with certain neighborhoods, what seems to unite us all is that inimitable San Francisco spirit. Maybe it’s in the fog, or maybe it’s due to the fact that we live in such a geographically intimate space. Whatever it is, there’s that undeniable something about living in San Francisco that makes us feel like we’re all part of something larger.

In a small alley off of Columbus Street in North Beach sits one of the cities most famous watering holes: Specs’ Twelve Adler Museum Cafe. I asked this regular what he did, and he replied, “I’m a builder.” Enough said.
