Earlier this week, we posted pictures of the Folsom Street Fair. Another cultural event took place last week - Techcrunch Disrupt. Disrupt has permeated pop culture, and become a mainstay in San Francisco. Tickets are expensive, but we were fortunate enough to get a press pass. Here are some pictures from the event.

Geeks getting down! Fashion sense ... now that’s another thing altogether.

Buddy, the companion robot from Blue Frog Robotics. He won’t abandon you like your stupid friends would.

Organic Motion’s real-time VR content-creation studio, with Paul Giamatti from Sideways performing some of his crazy moves. At least I think that’s Paul. It’s gotta be him.

This guy, who was so bored he had to take a photo of that boring thing that was going on.

Troy Carter, founder of Atom Factory, showing us the size of the pumpkin he’s going to buy later this month. I hear he’s mostly in it for the seeds. Get it? Seed funding? OK, I was apparently at Disrupt for too long.

The most important lesson of Disrupt: if you’re going into a virtual world, definitely take some physical food with you.

The Intuit after party at Public Works on Day 2 of TechCrunch Disrupt. Not too shabby.

The “Grab Cash and Choose a Charity” game at the Intuit after party—or, if you’re in a start-up, just “Grab the Cash.”

This is a Yuri Gagarin–approved method of mobility.

The Monkop monkey mascot. He didn’t really get along with the astronaut.

The “no shoes” fad at Disrupt. It lasted for about three minutes.

Weed and tech finally coming together. Not surprisingly, this was quite popular with the San Francisco crowd.

How Hackathon runner-up Harvest made the top three with their big red balloon. They beat out the team with the big blue balloon. Amateurs.

And finally, the winners of the 2015 TechCrunch Startup Battlefield—Pied Piper! Oh, I meant ... Agrilyst!
