In case you haven’t heard, it’s Girl Scout cookie season! Now we know it’s hard for you to concentrate on reading the rest of this post while also reckoning with the intense desire to get a cookie into your mouth immediately, but we’re here to help. Here are 8 things you should  know before you buy.

1. You can order online for the first time ever.

And you can see exactly which young people you’re helping out! If you don’t have time to stop by a booth or want to buy more cases than you can carry home from the grocery store, you’re in luck. Go to ilovecookies.org (cutest domain ever, right?) to be paired with a local Girl Scout and order all the cookies you like. You can even see how close girls are to hitting their troop goals.

Pro tip: If you can’t wait and want to get your cookies in person, you can find a nearby booth here.

2. If you order online, it makes more sense to order a lot.

Sorry to twist your arm here, but you should buy at least six boxes this year. The shipping cost for one to six boxes is the same ($11.25) and the value just keeps going up with the more boxes you buy from there. You should probably make room in your freezer for those Thin Mints now.

3. You can donate boxes to rad people.

You can do the whole two-for-me-one-for-you thing and buy a box of cookies that will be sent to troops overseas or to a local food bank. Your donated box could be the little piece of home for someone who’d really appreciate it.

4. Thin Mints are #1.

Just in case you were wondering, Thin Mints are the most popular cookie. #TeamThinMint

5. Each box sold raises $3.95 for local Girl Scouts. (Badges do not buy themselves y’all.)

As delicious as Samoas may be, they’re coconuttiness isn’t the real reason for the season. Girl Scouts exist all year round and when they’re not slinging cookies, they can take cool trips or make cool things with their troop. So buy some cookies so that your local Girl Scouts can get the dough.

6. There’s a gluten-free cookie now.

Welcome to the future! Girl Scouts has got your gluten-free back with the addition of Toffee-tastic cookies this year. There’s also new Rah-Rah-Raisin cookies that are made with oats, greek-yogurt flavored chunks, and raisins, so basically you can pretend this is a healthy cookie. You obviously have to get at least one box to try them out. #TeamThinMintButKeepingAnOpenMind

7. Cookies are the best gift ever.

Hear us out. How righteous would it be to receive a box of your favorite Girl Scout cookies for your birthday? Why isn’t this a thing? They’re the perfect shape to wrap and they taste like the best day of your life drizzled in chocolate. Let’s make this a thing, San Francisco.

8. Cookie season ends March 8.

Order now! Order a lot so that you can have a secret stash and instantly be the most popular person in your neighborhood should the apocalypse hit.
