Voyeurism and urban exploration are two of my favorite things and Savernack Street Gallery offers visitors both. Savernack Street is unique because of its incredibly small size. So small in fact, that all its exhibits can only be viewed through a reversed peephole from outside of the space. The current exhibit is one-by-one feet and just one-foot deep!
This magical gallery opened last year and is available to anyone, 24 hours a day as long as you know to flip on the light switch and look. Savernack Street is directed and curated by Carrie Sinclair Katz and the current exhibit is Jo Babcock's "The Dark Room." Katz told KQED that this teeny weeny space (she only rents the building's hallway) is all she can afford in SF. One piece of artwork is featured per month so you should check back often and don't forget to switch off the light!
