When’s the last time you did something fun in the morning? I’m not talking about getting an everything bagel instead of plain (always get everything, you deserve it!), I’m talking about that lose-track-of-time, face-hurts-from-smiling, didn’t-even-look-at-your-phone-once kind of fun.
A new morning dance party from Galvanize is taking an honest crack at it, and you’re invited to their inaugural shindig. g|Mornin': Galvanize's Rise & Dance Party is February 11 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., which I know for some of you is like, WOAH, THAT’S FUCKING EARLY, but don’t underestimate the power of some sick tunes and a sense of accomplishment (because it is early for some of us, but we’re growing, damn it.)

For the unfamiliar, Galvanize is a community for learning that offers software engineering and data science courses in SOMA, Denver, Boulder, Seattle, and Fort Collins. Industry experts, students, and startups work side by side in their beautiful and inspiring digs. Now people who don’t otherwise work there, but appreciate a good time, can get in on the cool-place-to-hang-out action and learn about their programs or maybe even make a *gasp* friend who works in tech.
Galvanize is always working to bring more people into their growing community, which is why they are opening up their coffee bar, g|Café to the public. The bar serves Sightglass coffee and is the kind of place you could feel good about taking a break for a bit or getting some work done.
Galvanize along with Softlayer and Construcs are inviting party people into their space to let more folks in on the accidentally well-kept secret of their kickass coffee oasis. g|Cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, and savvy city dwellers should check out its ample seating and the ultimate SF jackpot: no long lines. The space was created by the same architects as other Sightglass cafes in the city, making it a beautiful place to get your freak on before work or whatever it is you do on a Wednesday morning.

See the awesome space for yourself during this morning dance party with Guest DJ Dave McClure. Yep, the founder of 500 startups is going to be bringing the music. The party will also offer two hours of dancing, healthy snacks, complimentary Vita Coco coconut water, and of course, Sightglass coffee. Costumes are encouraged and should be fierce.
So you obviously want to come get down after you get up, but how do you do it? Tickets are on sale now, but you can also enter to win free tickets here.
If you’re wondering about other ways that Galvanize puts its money where its mouth is in terms of building an inclusive community, you should check out their scholarships aimed at de-homogenizing the tech industry and making opportunities available that can change the lives of people from more diverse backgrounds. Not a bad idea, right?
