Since fashion can be a
form of self-expression, coordinating outfits with someone else is a good way
to communicate your ties with that person. We’ve all seen our fair share
of photos with smiling families in matching sweaters. In Asia, matching-couples
outfits have been all the rage for more than a decade now as a popular form of
PDA. And anyone who’s a twin or a triplet can show you adorable pictures of
them posing with their siblings in similar ensembles in their youth.
If kinship and romantic relationships can be conveyed through matching outfits,
what about the deep, loyal connection between a pet owner and his or her cat?
Thanks to photographer and fellow cat lover Kristin Cofer and designer Danielle Garrabrants, who
basically accepted a “Project Runway: Cat Edition” challenge, we can now find
out.

It’s stripes on stripes on stripes for Vic and Helen’s chic family with Arya.

Manette dresses Nicholas with some faux fur on his real fur for double the glamour-puss.

Ali and her feline, Roxy, may just persuade you to come to the dark side, with their cat eyes.

Maria just blued herself, and then Maybelline followed suit.

There is no room for the Big Bad Wolf in the house of Cyn and Noche – just cuddliness.

Rockabilly or more like rock-a-kitty? It’s hard to say whether Kevin the human or Carl the pet is rocking the James Dean–style leather-jacket look better.

Oh, Nida, the Cat Lady in Red…I’ve never seen you looking so lovely as you did today, walking your kitty, Satira, down the street.

You know what they say: couples who chambray together stay together. Danielle and Kelly don the unofficial Bay Area uniform with their cats, Dolly and Charlie.
