San Francisco. Land of layered outfits, burritos, and fog. I was the tender age of 17 when I moved here, and within months, this city had already changed the way I talked about and reacted to everything around me.
Here’s my list of things I never thought I’d say until I moved to San Francisco (feel free to add your list in the comments):
“It’s only a 30-minute walk! It’s fine.”
“I have an ocean-view apartment because I can’t afford to live anywhere else in the city.”
“The Bi-Rite line is so short today; it’s only wrapping around half the block!”
“If I walk a few extra blocks over, I can avoid that one hill.”
“I dated him only because he paid for my burritos.”
“These clay pots would look great next to my succulent garden!”
“Is this vegan? Is this local? Is this made out of recycled materials?”
“The bus is coming in two minutes; I’ll totally make it.”
“I would totally sacrifice my first born for a burger and milkshake from Super Duper.”
“That’s not waste; it’s compost!”
“I know this really great place that makes gluten-free pancakes.”
“Always carry a light jacket with you. Even when it’s 80 degrees outside.”
“I can’t even tell that this whole city smells like weed anymore.”
“I’d like to hang out more with them, but they live all the way in Oakland.”
