Your end-of-January is about to be so good. The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts is hosting a new anime series that includes some really special screenings for fans of Studio Ghibli and similar animation. The screenings will include The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness, a documentary by Mami Sunada that chronicles the work and peels back a layer on the award-winning and somewhat mysterious Studio Ghibli, as well as The Tale of The Princess Kaguya, which is the latest film released by the studio. The documentary screens Jan 31 and the feature film screenings are this Thursday and Saturday.
Tickets are $8 for members, teachers, students, and seniors, or $10 for everyone else. Tickets may be purchased online here and a sad pro tip: if you see a message that says "We're sorry! Tickets are not currently available online for this event. Please contact our Box Office at 415.978.ARTS to get ticket availability information," that is their way of saying that time is sold out. The screenings are medium sized and tickets will go super duper fast, so do not sleep on this.
