Lorry Lokey, best known as the founder of Business Wire, sold his $6 million San Francisco apartment recently and has decided to generously donate the money from the sale. According to Business Insider, the billionaire purchased the rather expensive living space for $4.6 million in 2006 and will be giving the money from this sale to charity in order to get him closer to his goal of donating $1 billion. The Russian Hill apartment has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and pretty spectacular views of the city. Lokey used the place for entertaining and spends most of his time in Atherton.

Lokey's lofty donation goal is part of the Giving Pledge or a commitment by high-wealth individuals and families to "dedicate the majority of their wealth to philanthropy." Other famous members of the pledge club include Warren Buffett, Larry Ellison, and Bill and Melinda Gates and their site has a scoreboard if you're curious to see more.
