Everybody loves going all out on New Year's Eve. There are tons of things to do, you can drink, you can dance, you can do whatever you want because it's 2015 and you're alive, damn it!
Nobody loves waiting for taxis at the end of the night. Even less people like trying to call on their friendly neighborhood ride share app and be smacked with hefty service fees. Ok, maybe one person, one sick masochistic person likes that but most of us don't.
Flywheel is the answer. For the uneducated, Flywheel is an app designed to call the nearest cabs in the area to you. Think of it as a virtual hand wave or really good whistle, in terms of getting results. Plus, they never have surge pricing and generally don't cost more than an average taxi ride, making it much more convenient. This year Flywheel is celebrating #SurgeFreeNYE. Not only can you used Flywheel to avoid surge fees that night, you can also go anywhere in the city for a flat rate of $10. For less than a price of a pint of beer you could be home safe and sound, free to sleep off the other pints of beer.
This deal is good for rides less than $50 but even after that point you'll still only have to pay the difference on the regular meter rate.
Anyone who has the Flywheel app (available for iOS and Android) can take advantage of this pricing starting from 8 p.m. on NYE and ending at 3 a.m. on New Year's day. That should be plenty of time to get home and avoid lengthy city-wide walks of shame.
