Yesterday, the Girl Scouts announced that they will begin selling their cookies online. Soon, you won't have to wait until Girl Scout cookie season to order those tasty confections!

After 102 years of selling cookies door-to-door or in front of grocery stores, Girl Scouts of America is entering the 21st century and going digital. Dubbed Digital Cookie, this platform launches mid-December and allows scouts to take orders by email and track each one using the online dashboard. Customers can visit a girl’s personal cookie page, which tracks things like percentage of goal achieved and days remaining, on top of sales orders. In layman’s terms, you will now be able to have as many Thin Mints, Tagalongs, and Samoas your heart desires delivered right to your door. Even though the one-on-one interactions will slowly be a thing of the past, you’ll still have to know a Girl Scout in order to gain access to the site and to place an online order.

The majority of the 112 chapters of Girls Scouts across America are participating in this digitalization, with the rest of the councils hopefully implementing the program by 2015. Not only is this program designed to give easier access to obtaining the cookies, it was also created to teach the scouts about running an online business. Since the majority of the world operates on a digital level, adopting this program has been a long time coming. It only took so long, the non-profit says, because of the extra precautions necessary to ensure the girls’ safety. Anything posted on its scouts customizable pages must be approved by the child’s parent. Once approved, scouts will have a unique URL that can be given to potential buyers.

Upon hearing this monumental news, the lazy (and fat) part of me got super excited. No longer will I have to secretly stalk grocery stores or friends with kids in the scouts just to get my hands on some damn Samoas. And I know I'm not alone. With so many obsessed with these cookies, I have a feeling that when this program first launches, the Girl Scout’s server may crash, so hopefully they're prepared!
