Tahoe Officials Call For End To Bear Selfies

According to CBS SF, park officials in South Lake Tahoe have started warning hikers not to take selfies with bears. It seems that idiots – I mean guests are getting too close to bears in order to take photos. One source told ABC News that they saw about 30 people trying to take pictures of themselves with bears. This is obviously dangerous, but in case you didn't know better bears are wild animals and may attack if they feel threatened by someone taking their photo with an iPad (I know I would be pretty enraged).

The CBS SF article also points out that bears that do attack often have to be captured and killed just for you know, being bears. Apparently, the problem is so bad that park officials have threatened to close off the visitor center if people don't start listening. So let this serve as a reminder that state parks are a place to observe nature, not do whatever the hell you want.
