With the Cat Town Cafe's Saturday grand opening rapidly approaching, a collective, "EEEEE!" can be heard rising from the homes of cat lovers across the city of Oakland. I had a chance to go check out the space at the corner of 29th and Broadway before it opens to the public and I was quite impressed. If you're unfamiliar with Cat Town, take a minute and check out their story. They do good work for a lot of overlooked cats.
The cafe is like any you'd stop in on your way to work or on a mellow Sunday morning, with tasty coffee and snacks. The cats of course have their own separate area to hang out in, but visitors are welcome to bring their drinks in for a furry snuggle sesh.
If you're not in the market for adopting one of the cats, you might consider taking home one of Megan Lynn's original (and awesome) watercolor paintings. There will also be a selection of Cat Town swag available to show your support. The space is just about ready for the party on Saturday. The final touches will be some cat towers that pay homage to the city's iconic structures including the Oakland Tribune tower and City Hall.
