SFGate reported that a proposal for the biggest development project (or dev proj as I sometimes think to myself but don't say out loud) ever for the Inner Sunset is being proposed by a property owner there. The idea is to build 460 units (a mix of rental units and condos) where the 86-unit Kirkham Heights Apartment complex is now. The new complex would contain 86 rent-controlled apartments, the same number it has now. Another 12% of the units would be below market rate in adherence with the city's Inclusionary Housing BMR Rental Program.
The managing partner of Westlake Urban, the company that owns and is proposing changes, told SFGate that the process would likely take several years and that they “don’t expect everyone to be happy with the plan.” Seeing how many people think of the Sunset as an area less susceptible to city changes, that seems like a safe expectation.
