Sunday parking in SF has been free since July*, but according to CBS Local, there's a good chance that many people still don't know. Some of the city's meters have inaccurate signage that is leading people to believe Sunday payment is still being enforced.
A representative for the SFMTA told CBS Local that they can't simply slap new stickers onto misleading meters because people might not trust them. To solve the problem, the city will be replacing all the older meters with smart meters that will no longer accept payments on Sunday, but those will not be completely installed until February. In the meantime, park for free on Sundays with confidence and smile knowing that tourists and people who aren't in the know are making accidental contributions to San Francisco.
