Muni Experimenting With Payment By Phone

According to SFGate, the Municipal Transit Agency is planning to test an app that will enable riders to pay for one-day passes and visitor passports from their phones. Sadly for Fast Pass users, the 2015 test program will be focused only on decreasing the number of cash fares at this time. Business Insider reported Thursday that GlobeSherpa is being considered to build the app because they have already worked on a similar project for Portland's TriMet transit system. It'll be a while before this six-month test gets going, but anything that can get people on the bus and behind the yellow line quickly seems worth a try.
