San Francisco is a pretty casual city, but there’s still nothing like a dude in a suit, especially when that suit is custom-made, and he designed it himself. Klein Epstein & Parker is a crazy-classy shop that opened up recently in Hayes Valley. They’re all about changing the perception of what it means to shop for a suit. Instead of having to pick the least-worst fitting suit from existing options, men and women can get in on the experience by designing their own clothes and having them tailor-made to the measurements of their body.
KE&P participated in our most recent Hayes Valley Microhood, so we sat down with founders Miray & Jeroen Bik to find out more about the shop and what they do.
So what do you guys focus on at Klein Epstein & Parker?
We offer individually crafted tailored fashion constructed from Italian fabrics as well as abundant furnishings and design options. We’re a modern made-to-measure brand with a full line of options to satisfy weekend, office, fun/hip, and even gala attire. There’s a fresh, contemporary twist to our looks, but we can also create a beautifully classic navy suit. For us it’s all about the client’s needs and wants. Our desire is to offer a canvas on which an individual can be liberated to create whatever he or she desires.
Why did you open the shop?
We wanted to bring something new to the table in fashion/retail, so we leveraged our technology-based production resources with a fashionable experience. Our hope is to democratize made-to-measure fashion – in other words, to offer the opportunity to create 100% custom-made clothing for an affordable value. Our two-piece suits start at $798, and our shirts start at $248. Between our wide range of options, the handcrafted make, and the quality we offer, we believe our value is unmatched in the market.
What’s your favorite aspect about what you do?
We believe that what we actually offer is so much more than clothes. Sure, it’s what we sell, but for us it’s really about helping our clients find their own style and bringing their voice to the world through feeling proud of how they represent themselves. The “secret sauce” of what we do is in the structure, fit, and feel of our garments. The choices and details are fun, but it’s all about how you feel that’s the real reward. We have a deeper purpose and mission with which we conduct our relationships. We seek to honor each individual and be a trusted friend along his or her journey.
What’s a good tip that a regular would give about your shop?
Our team is fantastic! They roll out our unrivaled experience to everyone who walks through our doors.
Also, we often hear that nothing else feels as right as our made-to-measure pieces. So often we get people who bring in friends and family, but with the warning that there’s no turning back!
Anything else people should know about you or the shop?
Come in expecting to have FUN! Have a beverage, relax, and be true to yourself!
Why did you choose Hayes Valley as your San Francisco location?
The moment we came to Hayes Valley, it was like home. We just knew immediately that this was where Klein Epstein & Parker would set up camp. We waited for a year for our gorgeous building to be erected, and it was well worth it. We’re so grateful to be a part of this warm, creative, hospitable, and sharing community and look forward to many years of great relationships and fun times.
