HBO's "Looking" SF Extras Casting Call

Looking, the HBO show that’s either the gay version of Girls or the slow, boring Sex and the City (depending on who you ask) is putting out the casting call for extras. Since SF doesn’t have a juggernaut like Law and Order, which is projected to utilize some 80 percent of real-life New Yorkers at some point, this may be your only hope of walk-on stardom.

It’s especially good because Beau Brummel Casting is scouring for some off-beat or less frequently represented types, including “Young Gay Beach Goers” and “‘Bear’ Beach Goers” for two-day shoots in Guerneville, a “Pupusa Cart Lady,” and a big, all-night-long LGBT Forest Party with “butch types, Transgender Men & Women 20s-40s & Bear types 20-60. Real couples encouraged, especially Nude Willing Men." But the call also encourages more general types to apply, too: "There is a constant need for men & women in their 20s-30s to portray Hipsters, LGBT community, Bar Goers, etc."

Note: these 12-hour shoots pay SF minimum wage ($10.74/hour, plus time and a half after eight hours, meals included) but if you’re willing to get nude, the base rate is $250. Filming for Season 2, which will be 10 episodes, will happen between Sept. 3 and Nov. 20.

C’mon, you know you want to have a viewing party where you sit there with the remote during “your” episode, ready to hit pause when you show up and making anybody who guesses wrong take a drink. But if all you really want is to play Mario Kart 8 with Russell Tovey’s gaymer-genius character, you’re going to have to figure that out on your own.
