San Francisco will be getting its first raised bikeway soon! According to the SF Bicycle Coalition, the buffered lane will be added to Valencia Street from César Chávez to Duncan. The lane will only be a block long, but it's the first of its (cool) kind in the city. The sweet new bikeways are part of the Mission Valencia Green Gateway project, which also includes wider sidewalks, two new plazas, and permeable paving, which can reduce the likelihood of flooding.

More projects like this one that aim to make streets safer and more efficient are already in the works. Construction of the bikeway will get going in the beginning of 2015 and continue through 2016, so keep an eye out and get your bike ready.
