*Update* Burning Man gates will remain closed for the rest of Monday. Burning Man tweeted that they plan to open the gates mid-day Tuesday. If you happen to be stuck in Reno, note there are various hotels and casinos offering deals to Burners, including the Atlantis, which offers a "Before the Burn Detox Package" featuring a night in their Deluxe Tower and lunch buffet for two in Toucan Charlie's Buffet & Grille.
Burning Man officially starts today, but there's already some bad news from the Playa. This morning, Tweets from @bmantraffic and @burningman have been going out explaining that the rain has been causing major delays, as well as the temporary closure of the gates to Black Rock City. Burning Man officials have urged those who haven't yet made it to Black Rock City to stay in Reno or the nearest city until the rain stops and the Playa can be reopened.
Due to rain, the BRC Gate will be closed for upward of the next 2-3 hours. Plan accordingly. Updates as they’re available.

Rain continues on playa. Playa access closed until further notice. Stay in Reno or nearest city. No event traffic currently allowed on 447.

Sucks for those stuck in traffic (or in nearby towns) waiting out the rain, but the weather should be dry and clear weather for the rest of the week.
