Forget about take your dog to work day. By this time next year, it will be all about taking your dog to lunch. SF Gate is reporting that Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill that allows our four-legged friends at some restaurants. It’s not a total Fido-for-all though, so don’t panic if you’re not a fan of slicing steak to the tune of a hundred wagging tails. The dogs will only be allowed in outdoor seating areas, which will be required to have a separate door. Pets will not be allowed to sit on the restaurant’s chairs or benches and they also have to be on a leash or in a pet carrier, which would, presumably, make holding a knife and fork difficult. The bill does not require restaurants to allow dogs in their outdoor spaces; it just gives guidelines for allowing pets at eateries.
The new rules kick in next year. Spot and Brutus will just have to make due with leftovers until then.
