I went to Outside Lands for the first time yesterday and the two things I can't go without for the rest of the festival are sunblock and the PayPal app. The app allows you to pay from your phone so you can carry less around with you AND skip the ATM line. You can use the app at Beer Lands, Wine Lands, and to buy merch. On top of that (and this is my favorite part), the app gives you access to great discounts at select food vendors. I spent yesterday "trying out the app," which basically means stuffing my face.
My first order of business was getting my hands on some lumpia from Chino and a grilled cheese from the American Grilled Cheese Kitchen. I paid for both using the PayPal app and all I had to do was download the app, link my card or account, and swipe when prompted to check-in to pay. At both places, I saved $3 just because I paid using the app. Mmm… tastes like value.

Then I stopped by PayPal's lockers and convenience store, which is on a whole other level. You might even mistake it for a VIP area except everyone's invited. You can stop by to charge your phone at one of the many outlets, get your face painted, hop in the gif photo booth, and buy festival necessities (from local brands to boot!).

Later on I tried Wise Sons' pastrami fries (and saved three bucks AGAIN). They tasted great and I was expecting a long wait, but paying was super fast and I think my fries were in my hand (and then my in face) in under a minute.

A wise eater would download the PayPal app before you head to Golden Gate Park today, because all the vendor offers are for places you're probably planning to grub at anyway. You can get $3 off at Tacolicious, Freshroll, Rosamunde, and more. And to sweeten the deal, we'll give the the first person to tweet @thebolditalic a photo of what you're eating at Outside Lands today a surprise swag bag from the PayPal convenience store.
