According to KCBS, peaches, plums, pluots, and nectarines sold at Costco, Trader Joe's, and other retailers are being recalled by California's Wawona Packaging Co. after some of its stock tested positive for listeria. The CDC states that listeria can cause serious infections and most commonly affects adults with weak immune systems, young children, pregnant women, and older folks. The recall includes stone fruit packed from June 1 to July 12, and if you're concerned, you can check if you bought any compromised fruit by looking at these photos of product labels from the FDA.

Wawona issued a press release about the incident, explaining that healthy individuals who consumed some of the fruit that contained the bacteria would probably only suffer from short term symptoms such as nausea, high fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. The good news is that after listeria was found through internal testing, Wawona shut down its packing lines, retrofitted and sanitized equipment, and tested for the bacteria again. Daily tests since then have been negative.
